Steve McLaughlin

A prominent financial technology entrepreneur with a long resume of successes as an investment banker and fiscal advisor, Steve McLaughlin currently leads San Francisco-based Financial Technology Partners (FT Partners) as the firm's Managing Partner. Earning his undergraduate degree in Finance from Villanova University and his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, Mr. McLaughlin founded FT Partners after an eight-year tenure at Goldman Sachs & Co. Having joined Goldman with an impressive list of early accomplishments, Steve McLaughlin quickly rose through the ranks and rose to Head of the Global Financial Technology. During his time at Goldman Sachs, Mr. McLaughlin advised on several high-profile and complex transactions that provided him with the experience and competency to launch FT Partners. Effectively leveraging this experience, he won a major professional victory in 2003 when SoundView Technology Group Inc. tapped him to oversee its $345 million sale to Charles Schwab Corp.

Today, Steve McLaughlin focuses his attention on a variety of bulge-bracket-level transactions ranging in scale to transactions well over $1 billion. Financial Technology Partners stands apart for its strong commitment to high-quality service, an integral part of Mr. McLaughlin’s business model that helps the small enterprise to compete ably with top investment banks. Steve McLaughlin recently helped close a growth recapitalization between Merchant Warehouse, Inc. and Parthenon Capital Partners, a private equity firm with $2.2 billion in capital under management.

Steve McLaughlin displays a commendable commitment to charitable giving outside of his endeavors at Financial Technology Partners. He provides much needed support to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Paradise Hospice, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, among numerous other non-profit agencies.
